XL has no idea how to soft reset Blackberry correctly

This morning I activate the XL's BIS on my Blackberry, then they sent me a message as shown below.

Huh? Don't they know how to soft reset on Blackberry without replacing and put back your battery? Well, here's another way: press and hold Alt+(Right)Shift+Del for a few seconds. Voila!

ATM - Aggravating Teller Machine

I went to Indocomtech, a computer fair,  yesterday with @yayi_meirizka. I planned to go to XL booth to see their promo in Blackberry Gemini. After almost one hour of searching, we strenuously find the booth. I asked the SPG if I could see the cellphone before deciding to buy it or not. But then she said too bad that they just have the dummy, and one of the SPG's Gemini has run out of battery. So I had to make decision by feeling. By that time, I'd never tried or even touched Gemini before.

After a lot of questions to some friends who are Blackberry users, I decide to take it. Me and my friend then queued on ATM because XL only receive cash or credit card. Well, yeah, not-having-credit-card sucks! Oh, and the ATM that we were queueing is ATM Bersama, because Bank Mandiri has no ATM in there. After an hour standing-queue, I was already at the third place before the machine, but then it got hang! CRAP! So I went to  another ATM Bersama, but then found out that it got hang too, but this one had technicians who were fixing on it. So I waited they're doing their job, but after half hour, obviously they didn't know how to fix it. One of the technician even just laughed his brainlessness and sat behind the machine. WTF?! How could they be hired if they can't fix those problems? Seriously Artajasa, you guys should give more training to your technicians!

I pissed off so I decided to go out from that packed building. As we stepped our feet outside, I remember there's another ATM (BNI and BRI) near the front door. We went there then heard some people were mentioning that it run out of money. GREATTT!!

We then went home without bringing anything but a lesson: bring cash before you go to the fair.

Mall rehab

This morning I had this little conversation on twitter.

Have you ever wondered, how often do you go to the mall? I must confess that I go there too often. Well, the purpose is various, depends on my mood. Even...

For me, going to the mall is a blameworthy recursive activity. May be I better start to find a new hobby as distraction. Like, sports? Well, I know there's a gym and dojo near here. Hmmm....

Setting up internet connection on Snow Leopard with Huawei modem.

Snow Leopard is awesome. I just installed it to my macbook last night and very impressed with the refinements.

The great part of this OS is the speed improvement, and of course the tidier and more elegant Exposé and Stacks. Now we can zoom and take a closer look on one of the window on Exposé. Neat! Well actually there are still more refinements that Apple has made, you can dig all of it in here

But Snow Leopard is not about all the good thing. I've heard an issue that not all Leopard's application is compatible with Snow Leopard. So I checked on the application-compatibility list to see if all applications I use often works is on the checked-list. And yes, there said it supposedly works fine. But it's not.

To connect internet, I use Telkomsel Flash as my provider and Huawei e172 as my mobile 3G modem. But after I install Snow Leopard, I found out that the application to connect internet with this modem (Mobile Connect) is no longer working. This morning I frustratedly googled and finally figured out how to fix this thing on MacTalk forum by a post from this guy. So, here are the steps:

Delete these files:
/Applications/MobileConnect
/System/Library/Extensions/MobileConnect power
/Library/Modem Scripts/HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem
Reboot your Mac.
Plug your modem in, open the virtual CD. Right-click on the application file (MobileConnect) and click "Show Package Contents". Navigate to:
/Contents/Resources/MobileConnect_Drv_App.pkg
Run this package to install the drivers.
Reboot your Mac, and plug the modem back in.
Open Network setting on your System Preferences. And manually configure the connection, below I attach the screenshot of my Network setting.

Voila! Now I can surf the internet on Snow Leopard.

(Updated on September 4, 2009)
If you don't have the driver installer on your virtual CD, you can download it in here.

Up is totally up to scratch!

I read a lot of great responses to Up on my twitter timeline while I was working on somewhere-out-of-civilization couple weeks ago. That made me wonder, what kind of movie is this about. I googled a little, and watched its trailer on youtube, and found out that it is an animation movie.

Speaking of which, I'd always been thinking that Wall-E is the best animation movie. I won't say that Up is better, but I think they're on the same bracket. Oh yeah, may be because they both made by the same animation company, Pixar.

Up took less than 10 minutes to make me love the movie. The story's about a sad old man who took adventure by tying his house with balloons to go to South America. That adventure has been his and his wife dream. But sadly, his wife passed away before they make that happens. He then makes through that adventure with a little scout named Russell. Wait, I'm not gonna spoil you through this, since I think you better see it yourself to know the full story. So let's just skip it to the conclusion.

Well, The story-line's quite sad and funny. I love the way Pixar get my (and the audiences') emotion along the movie. If you haven't seen this, well, you're gonna miss another great animation movie of this year man. So quick, watch it NOW!

For the outstanding story & stunning animation, this movie deserves:

Mac OS X Snow Leopard: The large cat is ready to claw!

Woohoo! Apple just announced that Mac OS X Snow Leopard is now available for pre-order through their Apple Store. The good thing is it only costs IDR 379.000 and free shipping! Awesome!

I just thought to compare its price with Windows 7's. And here's what I found on the internet.

Umm, actually it took more than a minute for me on finding which one is I have to pay if I want to use Windows 7. *5 seconds of silence*. Screw this, I'm not gonna use Windows 7 after all...

Well, I wish I could pre-order Snow Leopard today, but unfortunately yet I haven't got a credit card. So I guess I really have to wait until this large cat's available on Apple Authorized Reseller.

District 9: How do you like your prawn cooked?

Today, I've just seen District 9 with @findamega and 2 friends. It's funny, since I had absolutely no idea what kind of movie is this by the time we bought the ticket. But hey, the tickets were already in our hands, so we just got in and watched the movie.

And...

The aliens in this movie are look like a giant lobsters, thus they name it "prawn". Not like another alien movies, this "prawn" could understand human language clearly, and vice versa.

I like the part of the movies when they make scene as it's a documentary on Discovery Channel. All the interview to experts and common people, and the camera which is taken from the chopper. You know, it just feels like watching news.

The grossest part of the movie's when the chairperson (literally) of Nigeria gangsters wants to eat this "prawn" meat. Just simply because he thinks by eating them, he could gain alien's power. Grossly brainless. I expected there's a line said by his assistant, asking "How do you like your prawn cooked, sir?", but I guess the leader wants it raw. Hahaha. But then...

The conclusion; the story's quite good, the cinematography's outstanding, and oh, the music is so awesome.
Overall, for a not-a-big-fan of sci-fi movie, I would give this movie a.....drumroll please!....

Sayonara edziardo.com!

I've posted this as my first entry on this posterous. And finally, I received a confirmation mail about the expiration of my domain from my web-hosting this morning:

Selamat Pagi,

Kami beritahukan mengenai domain anda edziardo.com expired tanggal 23
Agustus 2009. Akan anda perpanjang atau bagaimana?

Kami tunggu konfirmasi secepatnya.

Salam,

Well, I think this is it. I decided not to extend my domain.

So why did I move to posterous? For me, posterous is a Mac, and wordpress is a Windows. Unlike wordpress, on Posterous all I just care is write, attach, and send it through email. Neat! No more what-so-ever script I have to care.

And so why didn't I just extend this domain and just installed Posterous on it? The thing is, I don't write much. It's gonna be a waste.

So, sayonara edziardo.com!

p.s. One widget that I really love on my site is this last.fm widget. Which (yet) I can't install it on here. Oh well.

Tablet-era will soon to come

So the rumors about Apple's Tablet has been spread widely over the internet recently. Do you know what I like when Apple's about to launch new product? It's the rumors itself. We anxiously waiting about the leak information before it's launched. And when the products are on sell, we come to the Apple store (or Apple Authorized Reseller, for those who's not lucky enough to have their own official Apple Store on their country) to see and try it. Then cursing why that's so expensive, but it's certainly worth and awesome!

Well, back to the rumor, this one is the latest design concept I found on Guardian.

Pete Cashmore from Mashable says that the Apple Tablet's screen size may be up to 10" (25,4 cm) diagonally. And it will possibly be launched by Christmas.

I must admit that Apple always put a revolutionary breakthrough on each of their products. Just like the latest (and the most wanted gadget by me) product that they have; iPhone. The revolutionary of cellphone that you can see on iPhone then be followed by other mobile phone manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung, LG, and even RIM. But do they make any better than iPhone? Unfortunately no.

So I expect much about this Apple Tablet and the aftermath effect to Apple's competitors on making the same-kind of product (which never be any better) with this. Well, we'll see that tablet-era will soon to come.

Oh, and you guys must see this Apple Tablet Mockups Gallery in here (on lower section of article). It's hilarious! I love this MacBook Touch Mockup (designed by Tommaso Gachelin) though. Having a foldable screen for gadget is so amazing!

No more Ramadhan's greeting card

I used to get many of greeting text messages on the starts and end part of Ramadhan. But this year, it gets lesser. Well, obviously people tend to send it in another simpler and cheaper way. Technology change our way in sending greetings.

Ten years ago, people use letters to send greeting cards. Remember the card section on almost every bookstore in town? It sold well, right? But then five years ago, lots of people start to use internet and mobile phone. They send greetings through text messages, MMS, and emails.

But now is the era of social media. 80% people that I know has at least one account of social network site. Plus, the development of recent mobile technology makes the access for people to this social media even easier.

So do we still need the real greeting cards this year?

Oh anyway, have a blessed Ramadhan!
